In 2018, a summer program, the Diverse Intelligences Summer Institute (DISI for short), was launched by Erica Cartmill, a developmental psychologist and anthropologist at UCLA, and Jacob Foster, a computational sociologist, also at UCLA, with generous funding from the Templeton World Charity Foundation. The basic idea behind DISI is simple: to bring together promising graduate students, postdocs, and early career faculty for our FELLOWS program and artists, writers, filmmakers, podcasters, etc. for our STORYTELLERS program for an interdisciplinary exploration of the origin, nature, and future of intelligences. The first and second iterations of the Institute were a great success. All accepted fellows and storytellers are funded. We are inviting students at your university because we truly wish to make our summer program an international affair. We are holding the Summer Institute at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, from June 28 to July 18, 2020. This is a beautiful seaside location, easily accessible from Edinburgh International Airport, and a picturesque train journey North from London. We’ve already assembled an outstanding international faculty (www.diverseintelligencessummer.com/2020faculty), and more are yet to be added. In addition to lectures and discussions, DISI offers participants the opportunity to develop collaborative interdisciplinary research projects with support from faculty and staff.
